No matter what time of year it is water intake is so important. I realize how hard it is to take in a sufficient amount of water during a busy day. I have found some awesome products, apps, and hacks to help increase your daily water intake.
How Much Water Should I Be Drinking?

First of all you want to start out by determining how much water your body needs. A great equation to use is:

Your body weight multiplied by .67 (2/3)

So if you weigh 150 lbs you would need about 100 ounces of water a day.

You must also factor in how physically active you are in the day. A good rule of thumb is to add about 12 ounces for every 30 minutes of activity you expend.

So for example, that 100 ounces of water for a person weighing 150 lbs will increase to 124 ounces if you workout for an hour in the day.

Water Products, Apps, and Hacks

Spark Hidrate (https://hidratespark.com) is a water bottle that will simply light up to remind you that it is time to drink some water. This water bottle also pairs with an app on your phone that automatically keeps track of each sip of water you take toward your daily water intake.

If you already have a favorite water bottle and are not interested in Spark Hidrate you can download one of the many water tracker apps in your smart phones app store. As you finish a bottle of water (depending on the size of bottle you use) you can add it in to the app to track your intake throughout the day. Some of the apps will even remind you to take drinks (similar to the Hidrate Spark) throughout the day with notifications to your smart phone or smart watch.

A simple hack to tracking your intake if you are not much for technology would be the rubber band/hair tie trick. After you have calculated how many ounces of water you need (and how many water bottle refills it will take) you will place however many rubber bands or hair ties around the water bottle. As you finish a bottle you will remove a band. By the end of the day your water bottle should have no bands around it and you should be hydrated!
